Charity is the voluntary act of giving help, typically in the form of money, goods, services, or time, to those in need, with no expectation of personal gain. It stems from values like compassion, kindness, and altruism, and plays a vital role in supporting individuals and communities who are disadvantaged or vulnerable.
As team leader of Reach Apac, I'm thrilled to share that our 'Beyond Period' initiative distributed over 700 sanitary pads to girls at Alaro and Abapiri Primary Schools, marking the start of our mission to support underserved communities in Apac district. I'm proud of our dedicated team's impact and, as a volunteer, I'm committed to continuing this work to break barriers and empower young girls and other underserved groups to thrive.
Iam glad that i was able to give back to the community. I had enough time to interact with the pupils and their teachers.i realised that a lot of children are willing to study but they lack support in terms of fees and sometimes they're not able to further their education thus dropout, being near lakeside they opt for fishing at their young age inorder to make ends meet,a lot of pupils down there are wise but lack enough scholastic materials like text books, pens, books.
I recently participated in a Reach Apac field activity focused on adolescent health education, covering body changes during puberty and menstrual health. Through interactive discussions and visual aids, participants enthusiastically engaged, sharing experiences and asking questions in a supportive environment. The session empowered adolescents with accurate information about physical and emotional changes, hygiene practices, and menstruation management, promoting healthy habits, self-awareness, and confidence as they navigate this critical phase—making it a valuable experience I look forward to repeating.
